ETH Focus Project
In the fifth and sixth semester of the Bachelor’s program of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering at ETH, students can apply their knowledge in practice by partaking in a Focus Project. The eight focus students will take over the project task to build a novel Hyperloop pod and bear full responsibility for the related deliverables. They will conduct the entire engineering development process from the initial definition of requirements, over designing and dimensioning, to building and running the final pod prototype. Consequently, the focus students can decide on which goals to pursue. Throughout this process, the team will be supervised by Prof. Dennis Kochmann in collaboration with Swissloop’s experienced coaches. Each focus student will be dealing with an individual set of tasks while working closely as one team to provide a single, cohesive product at the end.
Swissloop’s Focus Project offers students the thrilling opportunity to take part in our journey, but in particular, it provides an exceptional learning experience through undergoing an entire product development cycle in a realistic working environment. The demanding kind of product development present involves sophisticated tasks for mechanical and electrical engineering students, jointly conducted at the intersection of mechanics, electronics, and computer science while striving for an unprecedented product.
